Mexico City Skywatchers Prepare for Stellar Show: Nova, Planetary Conjunctions Highlight Upcoming Nights Mexico City – Residents of Mexico City are in for a celestial treat this May and June. According to a recent report by Azteca Noticias, several noteworthy astronomical events will grace the night sky. The most anticipated event is the potential explosion of Nova T Coronae Borealis, which astronomers predict could occur as early as 2026. "If this happens," explains Carlos Soto in the Azteca Noticias report, "this double star, which explodes approximately every 80 years, will temporarily become the brightest star in the Corona Borealis constellation." Adding to the excitement, skywatchers can witness the moon's close passage by the Beehive star cluster on May 30th and its approach to Mars on May 31st. On June 1st, Venus will be visible in dichotomy, meaning half of the planet will appear illuminated when viewed through a telescope. The video also highlights the moon's conjunction with Regulus, Leo's brightest star, on June 1st, and with Spica, Virgo's brightest star, on June 5th. These events, easily observable from Mexico City, offer a unique opportunity for amateur astronomers and stargazers alike to enjoy the wonders of the night sky. The upcoming Strawberry Moon, however, will be a topic for the next Astronofía segment.
