IMSS Clinic Flooded in Mexico After Heavy Rains
IMSS Clinic 53 in Los Reyes La Paz, Mexico, experienced significant flooding on Monday, June 2, 2025, due to torrential rainfall. The deluge overwhelmed the clinic's parking area and extended into the emergency room, disrupting services and forcing the relocation of patients. According to an IMSS spokesperson, "The collapse of the municipal hydraulic network and a fallen perimeter wall severely exacerbated the situation." Patients were temporarily moved to the outpatient consultation area while cleanup crews worked to restore the facility. One patient, who wished to remain anonymous, described the scene: "It was chaotic. Water was everywhere, and we had to move to higher ground to avoid the rising floodwaters." The IMSS activated emergency protocols and is working to restore full functionality to the clinic as quickly as possible. The incident highlights the vulnerability of healthcare facilities to extreme weather events and the importance of robust infrastructure and emergency preparedness.
