Ajolotla, Puebla, Mexico, was hit by a devastating flash flood on June 5, 2025, causing widespread damage and leaving residents reeling. The unexpected deluge, described by locals as something unseen in at least 50 years, forced families like that of José Jaime Domínguez to seek refuge on their rooftops. "The water was about to sweep us away," Domínguez recounted, his voice filled with emotion. The floodwaters, carrying debris and mud, inundated at least 50 homes and swept away three cars. Eva Téllez Pacheco, another resident, lamented the loss of her belongings: "Everything is gone—wardrobes, beds, televisions, refrigerators, stoves—everything."
