She explained that the brain's reticular activating system (RAS) filters information, causing us to notice what we focus on. Therefore, the words we use, even in jest, can influence our perception and subsequent actions. For instance, instead of saying "I'm dead" when laughing, she suggests phrases like "I'm living for that." Similarly, replacing "I'm so stupid" with more forgiving language when forgetting something can foster a healthier self-image. "Our brain actually recognizes what we're saying, and that's what creates our reality and that creates actions that we take and how we show up in the world," the coach stated.
