Belarusian Customs Thwart Large-Scale Smuggling Operation In a recent operation, Belarusian customs authorities successfully intercepted a significant smuggling operation involving fish and shrimp from the European Union. The operation resulted in the seizure of assets valued at 800,000 Belarusian rubles, and the subsequent fining of 40 carriers from Lithuania and Estonia. According to Aleksandr Khvisevich, head of operational customs, "During the conducted operational and investigative activities, the property of the offenders, including vehicles and currency, was identified and seized." This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Belarusian customs to combat illegal activities and protect the country's borders. The deputy head of the Grodno regional customs, Yuri Savitsky, added that the investigation was triggered by the use of invalid documents in the import of red fish and shrimp, with a total value exceeding 42 million rubles. The seized assets will be used to cover fines exceeding 4 million rubles.
