71 Schools in KL and Selangor to Conduct Home-Based Learning During ASEAN Summit Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, Malaysia – In a significant announcement, the Malaysian Ministry of Education (KPM) has confirmed that 71 schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will be allowed to conduct home-based learning (PDPR) during the upcoming ASEAN Summit, scheduled from May 26th to 28th, 2025. This decision was made to mitigate potential disruptions to students' education caused by security measures and road closures associated with the summit. "The decision to implement PDPR for these 71 schools was made to ensure that students' learning is not affected during the ASEAN Summit," said a KPM spokesperson in a statement. "We have taken into account factors such as road closures and security measures in place during this period." Among the schools in Kuala Lumpur affected are SMK Convent Bukit Nanas, St. John Institution, and SMK Maxwell. In Selangor, schools such as SMK Shah Alam, SJK(C) Union, and SK Bukit Jelutong will also be conducting PDPR. The KPM expressed confidence that the PDPR sessions will run smoothly, drawing on past experiences in managing disruptions due to pandemics and other unforeseen circumstances. The ministry's proactive approach ensures educational continuity for students while allowing for the smooth conduct of the important ASEAN Summit.
