Malaysia Allocates RM11 Billion to Bolster National Defense Langkawi, Malaysia – The Malaysian government has announced a significant investment in national defense, allocating RM11 billion to strengthen its military capabilities. The announcement was made during a ceremony at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2025. This substantial investment will focus on modernizing assets across various branches of the armed forces. The funds will be used to acquire strategic assets for the army, navy, air force, and cyber security divisions. Additionally, a portion of the budget will be allocated to improve the welfare and well-being of the armed forces personnel. Defense Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Khalid Noruddin stated, "This step is crucial in elevating the readiness of our defense assets to the highest level, aligning with our efforts to fortify national sovereignty and security." The allocation comes at a time of increasing geopolitical uncertainty in the region. The ceremony involved the signing of numerous letters of intent and memorandums of understanding between the government and various defense contractors. The event signifies Malaysia's commitment to maintaining a strong and modern defense force to protect its national interests.
