
Malaysia's Navy Strengthens Maritime Security with New Unmanned Vessel
Langkawi, Malaysia - May 22, 2025 - The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has significantly boosted its maritime surveillance capabilities with the acceptance of a new unmanned surface vehicle (USV S3). The advanced technology, provided by US-based Swift Ships, was officially handed over during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA'25). The USV S3 is described as a game-changer for the RMN, offering improved monitoring and intelligence gathering in the region. According to Laksamana Muda Azman Rabani, from the Ministry of Defence, "The USV is crucial for conducting effective surveillance and intelligence operations in areas like Langkawi and Eastern Sabah." The ceremony was witnessed by Datuk Seri Mohamad Khalid and Shehraz Shah (CEO of Swift Ships), symbolizing the strong collaboration between the RMN and Swift Ships. This acquisition marks a significant step towards modernizing the RMN and enhancing Malaysia's maritime security.
