Malaysia's CEMI Initiative Boosts Local Events, China-Malaysia Film Festival Expands Collaboration Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – May 31, 2025 – In a dual announcement today, the Malaysian government unveiled two significant initiatives aimed at boosting the nation's cultural and creative sectors. The first, the CEMI initiative, is designed to provide financial support to organizers of large-scale concerts and events. This initiative aims to support local artists and ensure their participation in major events. Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching stated, "This initiative involves local artists in large-scale programs, ensuring they aren't sidelined." The second initiative is the China-Malaysia Film Culture Festival, a collaboration aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries' film industries. Datuk Hans Isaac, chairman of FINAS, emphasized the festival's role as "a bridge" between Malaysian and Chinese filmmakers, opening up new market opportunities. The festival, running until June 8th, promotes cross-border collaboration, technology exchange, and market expansion.
