Laufey Opens Up on 'A Matter of Time' Inspiration New York, NY – Musician Laufey recently provided insight into her highly anticipated album, "A Matter of Time," set to be released on August 22. During Spotify's "An Afternoon with Laufey" event at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City, the artist discussed the emotional depth and diverse influences behind her latest project. Laufey revealed that the album serves as a vehicle to express "all of my emotions" and "let every feeling out," showcasing "the beauty of both joy and sadness." She emphasized her intent to musically broaden her scope, stating, "I wanted to musically really stretch my arms out and fly." The artist highlighted her eclectic inspirations, drawing from "jazz and classical and pop," and bringing these elements together to present "a very true version of myself." Reflecting on her artistic identity, Laufey, who comes from a "mixed cultural background and mixed musical background," expressed her discomfort with being pigeonholed. "I don't like being pinned down as one thing or another," she explained, adding, "this is me showing the world that I can be all of it at once and still whole."
