New York, NY – Members of the rising K-pop group KATSEYE, Manon and Lara, recently addressed their decision to remove a specific lyric, referred to as the "T girls" lyric, from one of their songs. The discussion, held during a public appearance, underscored the group's commitment to inclusivity and social responsibility. Manon stated, "Let's be inclusive, so it wasn't even a question to take that lyric out because why, you know?" She emphasized the group's belief in using their platform for positive change. Lara further elaborated on the power of music and their position. "Music is so powerful, and I think like lyrics and the platform that we have... is such an honor and it's power that we have, and like we want to use that power in the right way," Lara explained. She highlighted the diverse group of people they work with, including those from the trans and LGBTQ+ communities, and expressed their desire to "highlight that and uplift that" through their influence. The group aims to leverage their platform to support and uplift marginalized communities, reflecting a growing trend of artists using their voices for social advocacy.
