Swiss Influencer Franny Shares Personal Journey with Dyslexia, Advocates for Awareness Zurich, Switzerland – Swiss influencer Franny, known online as @almost.cesca, recently sat down with Blick to discuss her personal experiences with dyslexia, shedding light on the challenges and unique strengths associated with the learning difference. In a candid interview, Franny detailed the daily struggles she faces, particularly with reading. "It feels like everything is blurry, the page pulsates, and letters get swapped," she explained, describing the visual distortions that make reading a daunting task. She also spoke about the emotional toll, admitting, "Emotionally, it's simply a panic when reading aloud. I sweat, my hands get clammy." Franny revealed that her dyslexia was diagnosed late in life, attributing this to a general "lack of awareness" surrounding the condition. She discovered information about dyslexia through social media platforms, which prompted her to seek a formal diagnosis. Despite the difficulties, Franny emphasized the positive aspects of her condition. "Dyslexia often comes with an extreme talent for something else. For me, it's creativity," she stated, highlighting her ability to generate numerous ideas. When asked how others should interact with individuals with dyslexia, Franny stressed the importance of patience, especially when explaining things. She noted that people with dyslexia often struggle to find words. She also shared that her colleagues, many of whom are teachers or speech therapists, frequently read things aloud to her. "If you can somehow offer to read something aloud, do it," she advised. Finally, Franny offered a message of encouragement to others living with dyslexia: "It's okay if you feel that something is different. You are not alone. Speak up, say how you feel, perhaps to your parents or your teachers. Maybe a diagnosis will emerge that could help you during your school years." Her open dialogue aims to foster greater understanding and support for those with dyslexia.
