Newborn Abandoned in La Paz: Police Investigate

A newborn baby was found abandoned in Chasquipampa, a neighborhood in La Paz, Bolivia, on May 22, 2025. A 15-year-old brought the baby to the local police station. The baby was then taken to a hospital. Police are investigating and interviewing those responsible. The mother is a minor. A police spokesperson stated, "The case is under investigation at the FELCC in Viacha. We are taking statements from those responsible. We don't yet know if there was sexual assault against the 18-year-old mother." The incident highlights the challenges faced by young mothers and the need for support services in Bolivia. The baby is now safe and receiving medical care.
