
6000 Liters of Fuel Seized in Bolivia: Driver Escapes
Urujara Fuel Seizure: 6,000 Liters Confiscated in Anti-Smuggling Operation La Paz, Bolivia – In a significant blow to fuel smugglers, Bolivian authorities seized 6,000 liters of illegally transported fuel in Urujara today. The operation, a collaborative effort between the National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH), the Bolivian police, and the armed forces, resulted in the confiscation of the fuel and the vehicle used in the smuggling attempt. The driver, however, managed to evade capture and remains at large. "This is a major success in our ongoing efforts to combat fuel smuggling," stated Nelson Andrés Lamas Rodríguez, Head of the ANH's Analysis and Technical Evaluation Unit, in an interview with BOLIVIA TV. "We are working closely with other agencies to strengthen controls and prevent the illegal diversion of fuel." The ANH official emphasized the importance of verifying the legal origin of fuel and ensuring its legitimate use to prevent its use in illicit activities. The seized fuel was transferred to YPFB, as stipulated by Law 100. Investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the driver and any other individuals involved in the smuggling operation. This successful operation underscores the commitment of Bolivian authorities to tackling fuel trafficking and safeguarding the country's resources.
