Hungarian astronaut Tibor Kapu has successfully completed his first night in space, marking a significant milestone in his journey. While achieving a lifelong dream, the necessity of sleep remains paramount, with astronauts mandated to secure eight hours of rest daily for optimal performance. Sleeping in space presents unique challenges. Unlike on Earth, the absence of gravity means astronauts do not require traditional beds or support points, allowing for various sleeping positions. However, the lack of air movement within the International Space Station (ISS) means exhaled air, rich in carbon dioxide, can accumulate around a sleeping astronaut's head, potentially leading to severe headaches. To counteract this, astronauts often seek out areas with ventilation or air currents for their sleeping quarters. Fellow astronauts have shared their distinct dream experiences while in orbit. Loral O'Hara, for instance, reported having peculiar dreams during her time on the ISS. Similarly, Sunita Williams recounted that her dreams frequently revolved around familiar settings such as her home, the space station itself, and views of Earth.
