Detroit, Michigan - A local resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, recounted a harrowing incident of domestic violence she witnessed in the early hours of September 5, 2025. The witness, who was in her apartment, heard "agonizing screaming" around 2:00 AM, with a woman repeatedly yelling, "Help me, he's trying to kill me!" The woman was seen climbing out of a window, visibly injured and limping. The witness immediately contacted 911. While on the phone with the operator, the assailant reportedly caught the woman and began a severe physical assault. "He was beating her like I've never seen nobody get beat before," the witness stated, describing the cries from the victim as "disturbing." Another bystander intervened, pushing the man off the woman. However, the assailant then entered a black SUV, drove over the woman's legs, and fled the scene. Emergency medical services arrived shortly after, but the police response was significantly delayed. The witness reported being on the phone with 911 for nine minutes while the assault was ongoing. Adding to the shock, the assailant later returned to the scene, parking his vehicle with its lights off on the main street. Bystanders identified him to the police upon their eventual arrival. The woman was eventually taken away by ambulance after approximately 45 minutes. The witness expressed deep concern over the incident and the slow police response, stating, "This is something scary to witness." She urged individuals experiencing domestic violence to seek help, emphasizing the critical importance of leaving such dangerous situations.
