Croatia's New Law on Foreigners Yields Positive Results After Two Months Zagreb, Croatia – Two months after the implementation of the amended Law on Foreigners, the Croatian Ministry of the Interior is reporting positive results. Interior Minister Davor Božinović stated in a recent video update that "we are implementing what we announced, and the results are here, controls continue." The update highlights a significant decrease in the number of work permits issued compared to the same period last year. Specifically, nearly 7,000 fewer permits were granted. Furthermore, 63 licenses for auto-taxi services were permanently revoked due to violations. The Ministry's efforts also involved increased scrutiny of employers and digital platforms. Minister Božinović emphasized the importance of maintaining order in the labor market and preventing abuse. Police checks have resulted in the identification of approximately 5,000 irregularities and 2,885 violations. Minister Božinović concluded by stating, "The law is being enforced, and it's being done very seriously. Employers, act legally." This proactive approach by the Croatian government demonstrates a commitment to responsible immigration policies and a fair labor market.
