BET's "Travel Queens" Offers Refreshing Look at Black Women's Travel Adventures
The BET Network is set to premiere a new travel show, "Travel Queens," hosted by Drea Nicole and Lex P. In a recent interview on "The Breakfast Club" podcast, the hosts shared their journey to creating the show. They revealed that a production company, Coco Butter, approached them specifically because of their dynamic friendship and relatable content. "They wanted us to audition because they had us and a few other friend groups in mind," Lex P explained. The show will showcase budget-friendly travel experiences for young Black women, focusing on safe and enjoyable destinations. "It's refreshing to see two Black women who are really friends just having good, innocent fun," Drea Nicole stated, contrasting the show's positive message with often-negative portrayals of Black women in media. The show was filmed in four cities: Cartagena, Mexico City, Key West, and Charleston. "Charleston is beautiful," Lex P added, highlighting the diversity of their travel experiences. The "Travel Queens" premiere promises to offer viewers an inspiring and entertaining look at travel, friendship, and Black female empowerment.
