Brisbane Times sports reporter Nick Wright has shared his predictions for the highly anticipated State of Origin Game II, set to kick off in Perth on Wednesday night. Despite his Queensland allegiance, Wright's analysis leans towards a victory for New South Wales. Wright believes the Queensland Maroons will show an improved performance compared to Game 1, attributing this to the inclusion of Tom Dearden, who is expected to bring a more direct style of play. "I think they'll go better than in Game 1," Wright stated, adding, "I think Tom Dearden will bring a much more direct style of play to the game, which they were sort of missing in Game 1." However, when pressed for a winner, Wright's logical assessment points to the Blues. He predicts Liam Martin will score the first try of the match. For the final score, Wright forecasts a 26-18 win for New South Wales. "I just think that New South Wales pack is too big to contain," he explained. "So I think it'll be closer, but unfortunately I think the Blues will get it done." Wright concluded by expressing his hope to be proven wrong in his prediction, noting his previous unsuccessful predictions for Queensland victories.
