
Rapper Koba LaD's Involuntary Homicide Trial Begins: Artist Expresses Remorse Over Fatal Accident
The trial of French rapper Koba LaD, whose real name is Marcel Junior Loutarila, commenced this Wednesday in Créteil. He is being tried for involuntary homicide following a fatal car accident that occurred on September 10, 2024. The incident involved Koba LaD, 25, driving an Audi RS4 at high speed, colliding with a stationary truck at a service station exit ramp in Créteil. The front passenger, 30-year-old stylist William Dogbey, a close friend of the artist, died instantly. Koba LaD's assistant, seated in the rear, sustained minor injuries. During the proceedings, the court will examine the car's speed at the time of the accident, whether Koba LaD asked the truck driver to take the blame, and if he had consumed cannabis shortly before the crash. Koba LaD, who was provisionally detained after the accident and has previous convictions, expressed deep remorse in court. According to Le Parisien, he stated, "Since this accident, I have had trouble living with it. I want to apologize once again to them," referring to his friend's family. He added, "I lost a friend because of my fault. From A to Z, I am at fault." The penitentiary service report noted "significant psychological pain and melancholy" in Koba LaD linked to his friend's death. The trial is ongoing, with Koba LaD facing a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
