From Academic Failure to Business Empire: Dato' Sri Aliff Syukri's Journey of Resilience
KUALA LUMPUR – Dato' Sri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman, the renowned founder of D'Herbs Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd, recently shared his candid journey of resilience and entrepreneurship on the "BuatSaja Podcast." In a revealing interview, Dato' Sri Aliff recounted his early struggles, including academic failures in SPM and PMR, which led to his family questioning his capabilities. "My family all said I wasn't smart," he stated, recalling how he was not considered a 'favourite child' and was initially relegated to roles as a 'store worker' and 'clerk.' He emphasized that he built his business from the ground up, without any financial assistance, even as little as RM1,000, from his family. "We started from zero," he affirmed. Dato' Sri Aliff also reflected on the challenges of gaining recognition in the early days, noting that traditional media outlets like TV and newspapers were unreceptive to him when he was a young entrepreneur at 22. "Back then, rich people would get into women's magazines or TV, but the revolution has changed," he remarked, highlighting the shift in media landscapes. Despite facing constant insults and being "used to being thrown away and humiliated," he asserted that these experiences ultimately made him stronger. His story serves as a testament to perseverance, transforming adversity into motivation for success in the competitive business world.
