Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso – The Thomas Sankara Memorial, a significant historical site in Burkina Faso, will implement a paid access policy starting November 1st, 2025. This decision has sparked discussion among locals and visitors alike. The new policy introduces different fees based on nationality, age, and group size. National adults will pay 1000 CFA francs, while children and students will pay 500 CFA francs. International adult visitors will pay 3000 CFA francs, with children paying 1000 CFA francs. Group discounts are also available. "Désormais, pour visiter le site du Mémorial Thomas Sankara, les visiteurs nationaux paient 1000 francs pour les adultes et 500 francs pour les enfants," explains a local resident in the video. The memorial will be closed every Monday for maintenance and disinfection. This new policy aims to ensure the ongoing upkeep of this important historical landmark.
