In a recent online video, dog training specialists from Cainark Dog Training highlighted three specific dog breeds that they caution against for individuals considering their first canine companion. The experts, based in Hampshire, emphasized that while these breeds are beloved, they demand a significant commitment from their owners. According to the trainers, the Patterdale Terrier, German Shepherd, and Belgian Malinois are not ideal choices for novice owners. They explained that Patterdale Terriers possess an 'unreal' prey drive, making them challenging for inexperienced handlers. German Shepherds, while highly regarded, were described as 'hard work,' requiring consistent and correct training to manage their intelligence and energy. Finally, the Belgian Malinois was characterized as 'a German Shepherd on acid,' underscoring its extremely high energy and demanding nature. The trainers concluded that these breeds are a 'full-time job,' requiring substantial dedication and effort to ensure their well-being and proper integration into a household.
