Cool Summer Treat: Honey Cucumber Lime Granita Recipe Highlights Pollinator Week
As summer approaches, a refreshing dessert is often sought after. A new recipe for a Honey Cucumber Lime Granita offers a unique blend of sweet, tart, and spicy flavors, providing a cool respite from the heat. This frozen treat, which does not require an ice cream machine, features cucumbers, lime, mint, and honey. The recipe was developed in partnership with the National Honey Board as part of National Pollinator Week. This initiative aims to highlight the crucial role pollinators, such as honey bees, play in food production and maintaining healthy ecosystems. Cucumbers, a key ingredient in the granita, are among the 90 different crops that rely on the diligent work of beekeepers and honey bees. Honey bees are responsible for pollinating approximately one-third of the foods we consume, underscoring their significance to agriculture and biodiversity. Consumers are encouraged to acknowledge the contribution of honey bees when enjoying various fruits and vegetables.
