Three Dominicans Sentenced for Human Trafficking in San Juan de la Maguana San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic – In a significant crackdown on human trafficking, three Dominican men were recently arrested and charged with transporting undocumented Haitian migrants. Authorities from the Dominican Republic Army's ERD unit intercepted two vehicles carrying a total of eleven Haitian nationals in precarious conditions. One of the vehicles, a white Hyundai Cantus, license plate G420651, was found carrying ten migrants, eight men and two women, in its trunk. "They were crammed in like sardines," stated a witness who preferred not to be identified. The migrants were subsequently taken into protective custody while the three traffickers were apprehended and processed according to Dominican law. The successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Dominican authorities to combat human smuggling and protect vulnerable migrants.
