The woman, Magdalena Peña, 47, was abducted from her home and a ransom of three million pesos was demanded for her release. According to police reports, the suspects, Jesús Emanuel Báez (27) and Daniel Adames (25), were located in Arroyo Guaimía. A subsequent confrontation ensued, resulting in the deaths of the suspects. Police recovered a Glock 17 9mm pistol, along with other items at the scene. "We will not tolerate these actions in our jurisdiction," stated General Eduardo Escalante Alcántara, the regional director of Santo Domingo Oeste, in an interview following the incident. He emphasized the police department's commitment to combating crime in the area. Magdalena Peña, who works preparing school lunches, was safely recovered. The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing kidnapping and organized crime in the Dominican Republic.
