Dominican Republic's DNCD to Propose Legal Update to Combat Synthetic Drug Crisis Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – The Dirección Nacional de Control de Drogas (DNCD), the country's anti-drug agency, announced plans to update the nation's legal framework to address the growing problem of synthetic drugs. The announcement comes as the DNCD celebrates its 37th anniversary. The agency's director, José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa, stated, "We are updating our legal framework because in 1988, this wasn't a problem. Now it is a real threat in the US and the region." The DNCD has already seized over 200 tons of illicit substances. Cabrera Ulloa also highlighted efforts to combat micro-trafficking, stating that they have removed more than 42 million grams of drugs from the streets. The agency's actions show a commitment to tackling the drug crisis head-on. The proposed legal updates are expected to strengthen the country's ability to combat the distribution and use of synthetic drugs.
