Dominican Republic Unveils Three-Phase Hurricane Contingency Plan Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – With hurricane season upon us, the Center of Operations of Emergency (COE) has announced a comprehensive three-phase plan to mitigate the impact of potential storms. COE director Juan Manuel Méndez detailed the plan during a press conference on June 2nd, emphasizing the importance of preparedness. "The preparation always goes hand in hand with the impact of the event," Méndez stated, highlighting the plan's three key phases: awareness, coordination, and response/recovery. The awareness phase, which began with the President's announcement, aims to educate the public on hurricane safety. The coordination phase will ensure a swift and efficient response to any event, while the final phase focuses on recovery efforts. Méndez also discussed the government's investments in resources and equipment to support the COE's operations. This includes the addition of three new radars to improve weather prediction capabilities.
