Dominican Republic Bolsters Border Security Amidst Haitian Gang Violence
Amidst rising concerns about the escalating violence and instability in neighboring Haiti, the Dominican Republic is taking proactive measures to strengthen its border security. Minister of the Presidency, Andrés Bautista, recently voiced his agreement with the assessment made by the president of the Conep, highlighting the substantial risk posed by Haitian gangs. Bautista stated, "The Dominican people are aware that the situation in Haiti represents a significant risk to our country." The government's response includes the construction of a physical border wall and increased military presence along the shared border. This initiative underscores the Dominican Republic's commitment to maintaining national security and protecting its citizens.
