Dominican Republic: US Fugitive Apprehended, Chinese Businessman Arrested, and MLB All-Star Hopefuls The Dominican Republic witnessed a series of significant events on June 6th, 2025. A high-ranking US fugitive, Luis Francisco Soriano, also known as "Jeffry" or "Jeijo," was apprehended. Soriano is accused of a quadruple homicide in New York in August 2024, which involved the deaths of two children. Police spokesperson Diego Pesqueira confirmed the arrest, highlighting it as a collaborative operation involving multiple agencies. "The arrest was the result of a joint intelligence operation," Pesqueira stated. Separately, a Chinese businessman, identified as Foxie, was arrested for allegedly assaulting immigration agents during an operation at his business in Villa Consuelo. The incident resulted in the detention of 35 Haitian citizens working without legal immigration status.
