In an attempt to escape, Jiménez lost control of his vehicle and collided with a local fruit stand. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the bystanders or the fruit vendor. "We were just setting up our stand when we heard the screech of tires and then a loud crash," said one eyewitness, who preferred to remain anonymous. "It was very frightening." Jiménez and the 15 Haitian immigrants were apprehended at the scene. Authorities are investigating the incident and charges are pending against Jiménez for human trafficking and reckless driving.
