Major Cocaine Bust in Dominican Republic: Over 24 Tons Seized This Year
Dominican Republic authorities announced a major drug bust today, seizing 1,360 kilograms of cocaine near San Pedro de Macorís. This brings the total cocaine confiscated in the country this year to over 24 tons. The operation was a coordinated effort between the DNCD (National Drug Control Directorate), the Dominican Navy, and Air Force. According to a DNCD spokesperson, "Agents, coordinated by the Public Ministry, confiscated the shipment during a surveillance and pursuit operation involving air, sea, and land units." The spokesperson further noted the seizure of three vehicles and the escape of at least ten individuals involved in the drug trafficking attempt. The successful operation underscores the ongoing commitment of Dominican law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and protect the nation's coastlines.
