Wontumi to Report to CID After Failed Arrest Attempt
Ashanti NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is expected to report to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Accra today. This follows a failed attempt by national security and police to arrest him at his Kumasi home on Friday. The investigation concerns a GHS50 million payment from COCOBOD to his company, Hallmark Civil Engineering. A Channel One News report shows the journalist Charles Owusu Kumi outside the CID headquarters awaiting Wontumi's arrival. The payment, according to sources, was made in the transition period between the NPP and NDC governments. The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, issued a warning to state agencies to halt all payments before the transaction was completed. The video footage shows the tense atmosphere surrounding the attempted arrest. This event highlights ongoing investigations into financial dealings within Ghanaian politics.
