
Former GIIF Chair Ameyaw-Akumfi Granted Bail in $2M Sky Train Case
Accra, Ghana – May 26, 2025 – Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, former chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), appeared in court today to face charges of financial loss and conspiracy related to the controversial $2 million Sky Train project. He pleaded not guilty. The court granted him bail of 10 million Ghana cedis (approximately $1 million USD). The bail conditions require two sureties with landed property in Greater Accra, and Professor Akumfi must surrender his passport. A reporter from Channel One TV captured footage of Professor Akumfi leaving the court. When asked for a comment, a representative stated, "He has been granted bail, and he has one week to fulfill the disclosure requirements."
