Ghana Tackles Dangerous Truck Parking: NRSA Launches Major Road Safety Operation
Ghana's Road Safety Authority Cracks Down on Illegal Truck Parking The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) launched a major operation on June 3, 2025, to address the dangerous practice of illegal truck parking along the Nkawkaw-Kumasi highway in Ghana. The operation, focused on the Apadwa Junction area, aimed to improve traffic flow and reduce accident risks. NRSA Director-General, Abraham Amaliba, led the initiative. "The illegal parking of trucks poses a significant threat to road safety," Amaliba stated. "This operation is crucial to ensuring the safety of all road users." The video shows numerous large trucks parked haphazardly along the roadside, obstructing traffic and creating dangerous conditions for other vehicles and pedestrians. The operation involved clearing the roadside of these illegally parked trucks. A temporary parking area is being set up to provide a designated space for truck drivers while a longer-term solution is developed in collaboration with the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly. This collaborative effort highlights the commitment of the NRSA and local authorities to improve road safety in the region. This operation is a step towards creating safer roads for everyone in Ghana.
