Ghana's Minister Rejects Quick Fixes, Seeks Systemic Telecom Solutions
Ghana's Minister of Communications, Sam George, held a press conference at the MoCDTI Complex in Accra today to address the ongoing challenges facing the country's telecommunications sector. He stated, “I am not interested in cosmetic fixes,” emphasizing his commitment to finding long-term solutions. George highlighted the failures of previous attempts to address the issues, noting that three of the original mobile network operators no longer exist. He stressed the need for systemic change, saying, "I have set to work vigorously in collaboration with the regulator, the CEOs and other stakeholders to fashion a clear roadmap for the systemic resolution of the challenges we inherited." The minister's focus on long-term solutions and collaboration with stakeholders signals a potential shift in approach to improving Ghana's digital infrastructure.
