Moldova's EU Accession Plan Approved: 3,000 Reforms by 2029 Moldova took a significant step toward European Union membership on May 29, 2025, as its government approved a comprehensive National Program for EU Accession. The plan, spanning the period from 2025 to 2029, outlines over 3,000 reforms, including nearly 1,800 legislative acts and more than 1,000 additional measures. Prime Minister Dorin Recean stated, "This plan clearly details how we will build our normal life, as we desire here at home." The reforms are focused on six key pillars: justice reform, strengthening the rule of law, economic competitiveness, green energy, rural development, and foreign policy. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gerasimov, emphasized the program's importance for citizens, stating, "We are undertaking these reforms not for Brussels, but for our citizens." The total cost of implementing the program is estimated at 66 billion lei. The plan will be reviewed and updated annually, beginning in October. This ambitious plan represents a significant commitment from the Moldovan government to align with EU standards and build a stronger, more prosperous future for its citizens.
