Moldova Receives EU Funding for Water Infrastructure Projects Edineț, Moldova – Construction is underway on a new water treatment plant in Edineț, a city in northern Moldova, as part of a larger initiative to improve access to clean water and sanitation across the country. The project is part of the EU4Moldova: Local Communities program, which was highlighted at a recent conference in Căpriana. "This infrastructure is essential," stated Diana Chiriac, advisor to the Prime Minister of Moldova on local public administration, during the conference. "It will provide safe and high-quality drinking water to both Edineț and Cupcini." The EU4Moldova program, funded by the European Union and supported by Germany, Austria, and Poland, is investing in water infrastructure improvements across seven localities in the Leova, Strășeni, and Edineț districts. The program aims to improve public health and the sustainability of local services. The conference brought together government officials, EU delegates, ambassadors, mayors, regional development experts, and civil society representatives to discuss progress and challenges. Ambassador Janis Mažeiks of the European Union emphasized the importance of ensuring that even the most vulnerable communities have access to essential services. "We are making efforts so that no one is left behind," he said at the conference. The successful implementation of these projects represents a significant step towards improving the quality of life in rural communities and small towns throughout Moldova.
