Ring's New Video Doorbells Help Find Lost Dogs and Tell Solicitors to 'Bug Off'
Amazon announced key new features for its latest Ring devices. Here's everything you need to know from the retailer's launch event today.
Amazon Introduces "Search Party" Feature for Ring Devices to Aid in Finding Lost Pets Seattle, WA – Amazon has announced a new initiative aimed at assisting pet owners in locating their lost dogs: the "Search Party" feature for Ring devices. Unveiled at a recent presentation, the innovative system is slated to roll out in November 2025. The "Search Party" feature integrates artificial intelligence with Ring's network of home security cameras. When a dog is reported missing through the Ring app, the system will utilize AI to analyze footage from nearby Ring devices for potential sightings. If a camera detects a dog matching the description of the missing pet, neighbors within the vicinity will receive an alert, prompting them to verify if the animal is indeed the lost dog. During the presentation, a demonstration illustrated the feature's functionality. A Ring camera captured a "brown dog running in the driveway," which triggered an alert. Subsequently, a user reported their dog, "Daisy," missing. Neighbors were then shown footage of a dog and asked to confirm if it was Daisy. Upon confirmation, the system facilitated communication between the dog's owner and the neighbor who spotted it, leading to a successful reunion. An Amazon spokesperson stated, "Millions of pets go missing every year. Search Party uses AI to ensure none stay lost." This feature represents Amazon's commitment to leveraging technology for community safety and support, extending beyond traditional security concerns to address the emotional distress caused by lost pets. The company emphasizes that users retain full control over sharing their camera footage and personal information.
