Antisemitic Attacks Rise in US: Arson, Shootings, and Flamethrowers Target Jewish Communities
Three Attacks on Jewish Communities in the US Raise Concerns On April 12th, 2025, an arson attack targeted Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro's residence during Passover. No one was injured. On May 21st, two Israeli embassy staffers were shot and killed outside the Capitol Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. Most recently, on a Sunday, an attack in Boulder, Colorado, involved a suspect using a flamethrower and Molotov cocktails, injuring a Holocaust survivor at a community march. In each case, the alleged perpetrators invoked the ongoing war in Gaza. "That this kind of violence has no place in our society, regardless of what motivates it," stated Governor Shapiro in a press conference following the arson attack at his home. The Boulder attack is particularly concerning due to the suspect's use of a flamethrower and Molotov cocktails against civilians, including a Holocaust survivor. The attacks highlight a rising trend of antisemitic violence in the US and have prompted increased concern among security officials and the Jewish community.
