Escaped Inmate's Plea for Help in Viral Video Sparks Investigation
Escaped New Orleans Inmate, Antoine Massey, Claims Innocence in Viral Social Media Video New Orleans, LA – A video circulating on social media appears to show Antoine Massey, one of two inmates who escaped from the Orleans Parish Jail last month, declaring his innocence. The video, which was later removed from Instagram, shows Massey holding a document and speaking directly to the camera. "I'm asking y'all to please come help. I'm letting y'all know I'm not a rapist, man. I'm a good person. My name is Antoine Massey. I was one of the ones that was let out Orleans Parish Jail," Massey says in the video. The US Marshals Service confirmed receiving the video on Monday and is currently investigating its authenticity. Deputy US Marshal Brian Fair stated that the agency is "looking into it." A reward of $50,000 has been offered for information leading to Massey's capture. Investigators have expressed skepticism that Massey would use social media, believing he would be "smart enough to sort of avoid a digital footprint." However, the video's appearance suggests Massey may have prioritized getting his message out to the public. The escape of Massey and his accomplice remains under investigation.
