Kevin James Addresses 'King of Queens' Reboot Speculation Actor Kevin James recently shared his perspective on a potential reboot of the popular sitcom "The King of Queens," expressing significant reservations about the idea. During an interview, James acknowledged the current trend of reviving beloved series years after their original run, citing examples like "Happy Gilmore 2" which is set 29 years after its predecessor. However, James highlighted a crucial obstacle for a "King of Queens" revival: the absence of co-star Jerry Stiller, who portrayed Arthur Spooner. Stiller passed away in 2020. "It feels hard because he was such a part of it, man. He was the glue in that thing," James stated, emphasizing Stiller's integral role in the show's dynamic. He pondered the feasibility of a reboot without Stiller, questioning whether it would genuinely capture the essence of the original. James also reflected on the show's journey, noting that "The King of Queens" was not initially as popular as contemporary comedies like "Everybody Loves Raymond" or "Friends." He observed, "What blows me away is how well we, we've done when we've come out later in syndication." This enduring popularity in syndication, he suggested, has led to a renewed appreciation for the series. Despite the show's continued success with audiences, James remains cautious about a reboot, particularly given the irreplaceable loss of a key cast member.
