Arizona Activists Demand Housing and Education Funding Over Deportations at State Capitol Protest
Phoenix, Arizona - Activists from Lucha Arizona held a visual demonstration today at the Arizona State Capitol, urging state lawmakers to prioritize public resources for housing and education over funding mass deportations. Vivian, a representative from Lucha Arizona, stated, "We are throwing this event that is all visual... to demonstrate to the community and to our lawmakers the decision that they currently face: whether they want to put money and resources to public resources like housing, education, or if they want to put that money to fund mass deportations."The protest aimed to vividly illustrate the direct consequences of legislative decisions on the community. "This is a visual representation of the direct consequences that their decision will have, and we wanted to show everybody what that would look like," Vivian explained. She stressed the importance of making these choices transparent, adding, "We want to put it directly in your faces. We want everybody to see what this is about." Lucha Arizona encourages the public to follow their Instagram and Substack for more information on their advocacy and upcoming events.
