Guatemala Infrastructure Projects: Progress and Challenges
Guatemala Infrastructure Update: Roosevelt Overpass Progress and Petapa Overpass Legal Stalemate Guatemala City – In a recent meeting, Guatemalan Deputy Cristian Álvarez GT met with representatives from the Social Solidarity Fund to assess the progress of two key infrastructure projects: the Roosevelt Boulevard overpass and the Petapa Avenue overpass. The Roosevelt overpass, according to Álvarez, is approximately 50% complete in physical execution and 55% in financial execution. However, the Petapa Avenue overpass remains stalled due to ongoing legal issues. Álvarez expressed concerns about the design of the Roosevelt overpass, which was originally handled by the Municipality of Guatemala. "The planning and design were done by the Municipality of Guatemala," Álvarez stated. "They delegated the project to you. You need to address the issues." The meeting focused on resolving these issues and ensuring the timely completion of both projects. The meeting also addressed a design flaw in the Roosevelt overpass, requiring a bypass to avoid impacting existing infrastructure. The discussion highlighted the need for clear communication and collaboration between the involved parties to overcome obstacles and deliver these vital projects to the Guatemalan people. The positive note is the commitment to finding solutions and ensuring the projects move forward.
