Pitești, Romania - Mayor Cristian Gentea has taken decisive action regarding an unauthorized planter constructed on public land in the city. The mayor personally inspected the site, a 'tomb-like' structure adorned with plastic plants and white decorative stones, after receiving complaints from local residents. During his inspection, Mayor Gentea expressed his dismay, stating, "I can't believe this has happened. No one respects anything anymore. Everyone does what they want." He observed that the structure was clearly built on public domain, obstructing what should be a public walkway. "They have a right, the neighbors who reported it," he acknowledged, emphasizing the validity of the complaints. The mayor issued a stern warning to the property owner, demanding the immediate removal of the structure. "You need to move quickly, I won't give you more than 48 hours to take them down," Gentea declared. He further noted that police had already been involved, conducting an initial assessment. "Police came, they made a report. I couldn't believe it," he added, highlighting the blatant disregard for regulations. The mayor stressed the importance of citizens inquiring about regulations before undertaking such constructions, especially on public property, to avoid similar situations.
