Brad Lander Slams Andrew Cuomo's Mayoral Bid: "Unfit to Lead New York"
New York City Comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander has delivered a scathing critique of former Governor Andrew Cuomo's potential run for New York City mayor. In a recent interview with Jon Lovett, host of Pod Save America, Lander asserted that Cuomo is fundamentally unsuited to lead the city. Lander stated, "At the core, it seems to me, he is just someone who's always and only in it for himself." He contrasted this with his own motivation, saying, "I'm running for mayor because I love New York City. And he is running for mayor because he loves Andrew Cuomo." The Comptroller further elaborated on his concerns, describing Cuomo as "an abusive boss" and predicting that if Cuomo were to become mayor, "More young women will be sexually harassed at City Hall." He also warned of "new corruption scandals," stating, "that is what they're in it for." Lander emphasized that Cuomo's leadership style, characterized by a "small bunker mentality" and a tendency to "crush some people" when problems arise, is incompatible with managing a city of New York's scale, with its "300,000 teachers and cops and firefighters and school crossing guards." He concluded that under Cuomo, New York "will be a badly run city."
