Hovercraft to Connect Toronto and Niagara in 30 Minutes
A proposed hovercraft service between Toronto and Niagara promises a revolutionary 30-minute commute across Lake Ontario. Hoverlink Ontario, the company behind the initiative, recently secured a 30-year agreement with PortsToronto for docking facilities. The plan, pre-approved by Transport Canada, aims to significantly reduce traffic congestion on the QEW and other major highways. "We can do upwards of 48 trips, 24 trips per craft, 180 passengers per hovercraft," said a Hoverlink Ontario representative, highlighting the potential to transport over 8,000 people daily. Tourism operators anticipate a significant boost to the regional economy and improved accessibility between the two destinations. The project represents a promising solution to persistent transportation challenges in the region, potentially transforming commuter and tourist travel.
