Sexual Assault in High Park Prompts Police Investigation
Toronto Police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred in High Park on Wednesday night. A 62-year-old woman was walking on a paved pathway when she was approached from behind by an unknown male suspect. The suspect dragged her into a wooded area and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene. The victim was able to escape and seek help from a passerby, who then contacted the authorities. "One of the key things that we would say in terms of safety tips would be to be aware of your surroundings," said a Toronto Police officer in a press conference. The officer also suggested walking with a friend or in a group for increased safety. A local resident, interviewed near the scene, expressed concern about the incident, stating, "It's still quite unsettling, even if it's at night." Police describe the suspect as a Black male, approximately 5'10" tall, with an athletic build and estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old. He was last seen wearing a t-shirt and dark-colored pants. The investigation is ongoing, and police urge anyone with information to come forward.
