Black Bear Takes Unexpected Stroll Through Ontario Car Dealership
Port Hope, Ontario residents received an unexpected visitor Wednesday afternoon when a black bear was spotted casually walking the perimeter of a local Hyundai dealership. The unusual encounter, captured on video, caused quite a stir among staff and customers. "There was a little bit of panic at first," said Tim Rudkin, the dealership's marketing coordinator. "You know, there's a wild animal real close to the dealership, and there's a few people outside, so we had to make sure everyone came in." The bear's leisurely stroll prompted Port Hope Police to issue a community advisory, urging residents to be aware of their surroundings, keep pets leashed, and secure food sources to avoid similar encounters. The police also advised residents not to run if they encounter a bear but to slowly back away, giving the animal space to leave. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of coexisting peacefully with wildlife, even in unexpected urban settings.
