Kuwaiti Artist Turns 20 Years of Packaging into Stunning Fondue Pots
Upcycled Fondue Pots: Kuwaiti Artist Transforms 20 Years of Packaging into Art KUWAIT CITY – Dalia Aly, a Kuwaiti artist known for her preservational designs and IKEA hacks, has created a unique art piece from recycled materials. Using discarded packaging from The Chocolate Bar, a local business celebrating its 20th anniversary, Aly crafted a series of cloud-shaped fondue pots. The project, documented in a recent viral video, demonstrates a creative approach to sustainability. Aly's process involved soaking the various paper items—boxes, bags, napkins—overnight, then blending them into a pulp using a hand blender. She then added plaster of Paris to create a pourable consistency. "Turning paper into clay, and clay into clouds," Aly explains in the video, highlighting the transformative nature of her work. She also designed and 3D-printed molds to shape the final product. The resulting fondue pots retain the iconic pink hue of The Chocolate Bar's original packaging, adding a nostalgic touch. The video concludes with Aly expressing her satisfaction with the final product. "I genuinely could not be happier with the way that this turned out," she says, emphasizing the unique texture and aesthetic appeal. The project showcases Aly's artistic talent and commitment to sustainable practices, offering inspiration for others to creatively reuse discarded materials.
